About the Area
Rio Chico is a parish of Manglaralto in the province of Santa Elena about 106 miles northwest of Guayaquil, Ecuador. It lies just three minutes south of Montañita and offers residents and tourists peace and tranquility with its beautiful flora, fauna and warm breeze. The main activity of the inhabitants is fishing; visitors participate in photographic excursions, surfing, boat rides, beach lounging, nightlife, visiting the dry forest or going further inland towards the jungle. The beach has umbrellas and restaurants with bars for those who wish to spend their day on the beach sunbathing or swimming in the ocean. The locals carefully use recycled paper for making bags, notebooks, cards and the like, showing a great interest and regard for the ecology and preservation of the natural environment.
Montañita is a small coastal town with a population of around one thousand. Translated as "Little Hill", it became famous very slowly, decades ago, as a place for surfing, with only a few rustic fishing households. It is now a popular destination for surfers and tourists from around the world and is considered one of the best beaches on Ecuador's southern coast.
Montañita's climate is consistent with that of a tropical coastal city. Its average temperature is 82 degrees (F) and undergoes a rainy season December to May; however, rainfall is low and typically occurs in the evening. Ocean water temperatures range from 56 to 68 degrees (F).
Montañita's economy is based upon tourism, mainly with respect to food service, surfing, craft sales and lately, new residential housing in both single family homes and beachfront condominiums. High season for tourism peaks in January and hits its low in June. Each February CARNIVAL is held. Surfing in Montañita offers strong, consistent waves with good tubes, and every February during CARNIVAL, Montañita hosts an international surfing competition. The main means of transportation are bicycles, pedicabs and the occasional motor vehicle, although the streets are mainly pedestrian. The streets of Montañita are filled with bars, cafés and restaurants that cater to all the tastes of both tourists and residents alike. During the peak season, there are many electronic/house music festivals on the beach. The town is separated into four main sections: the beach, the point, Trigillo neighborhood and the center of town. Montañita is considered one of the most liberal and laid back areas of Ecuador, with attitudes becoming more conservative as one heads east and inland.

Meet the Developers
Chad & Lisa Baltrusch
Chad and Lisa Baltrusch are the stateside developers on this project. Chad has served as President and qualifying license holder of Marbecc Enterprises Inc. since 2003; Marbecc Enterprises is a home building company in the custom home market in Arizona. He is currently a partner/owner of a large Montana based trucking company, as well as several other large scale projects there.
Mr. Baltrusch also has served as managing member of One Call Construction Services LLC since 2010. Prior to his service with Marbecc, he was self employed, working as a plumbing contractor and homebuilder from 1990 to 2003. Before 1990, Mr. Baltrusch was the owner of a large Alaska based trucking company. He currently owns residential property in Rio Chico and thus is highly invested in the success of these developments.
