• We finished the Foundations subcontract work about three weeks ago. A Tensar fabric/mesh slab mat" for dampness prevention goes down.
• We are currently building the concrete "forms" from marine grade plywood and some hardwood for the frames. The marine grade plywood is imported, and has been ordered and will be delivered shortly. The hardwood for the frames is coming now from the jungle.
• As we have completed the Foundations and moving to the next steps, we expanded our crews.
• We hired another "field engineer" called a "Residente de Obra". He will be there all day every day, and is a structural expert, with 15 years experience, specifically building high rise Towers right in Manta.
• We have also hired an English speaking secretary; she is a CPA and has years of bank experience. (We already have a "Big Fish" CPA but this small one will be on site, every day.)
• Fiber Optic in place at the admin office, but the bandwidth is still low and not enough to run the camera system yet. CMT is working to lay cable infrastructure so high speed internet infrastructure will be in place for all units.
About the Area
Crucita is a jewel amongst Ecuador´s many lovely beaches, and despite having become a tourist destination in recent years, Crucita remains has retained the quaint and unassuming charm typical to Ecuadorean fishing villages. It is located just off the coastal highway 50 minutes north of Manabi´s economic capital Manta, and 35 minutes west of its political capital Porto Viejo. Inland a mile or so you will find small farming towns, where local farmers grow bananas, corn, and onions. This is Ecuador, so everything grows all the time.
Crucita has about 13kms of beautiful beach, the majority of which is lined with bars, restaurants, hotels, and artisan shops. While the town is very laid back and quiet during the week, it comes to life on the weekend as domestic and international tourists visit to relax with friends and family. In addition to outstanding fresh seafood, Crucita offers a handful of international options as well including a world class Italian restaurant.
If you´re looking for more to do, consider a whale watching tour. Every September, humpback whales pass just offshore along the Humbolt current, and tours are available to witness these incredible animals in their natural habitat.
